![]() WASAPI is an API meant to improve upon WDM, but it's not as low latency as ASIO and not really used, as the 25-50ms latency from WDM is fine for youtube, VoIP, games, etc.Īnyway, for listening to music on Foobar it shouldn't make a difference aside from how quickly your computer can process the music it's playing to send an audio stream to your soundcard or headphone jack - wherever the signal hits the digital to analog converter. ![]() The interaction b/w these two types of audio streams is why music creatives say "it just works better" on mac, since everything fundamentally runs on the same low latency, kernel level Core Audio drivers. ![]() Can't speak to Foobar specifically, but as it stands today audio on Windows is either the proprietary and very limited ASIO for low latency music production, or WDM for everything else. ![]()
